Historian, mentor and mega mind. Big man with big personality and always Appears beyond a big history. People call him ''walking encyclopaedia or richest library'' for his
incredible knowledge on culture, tradition, identity and history of Borana – Oromo (The largest portion of 100 million Ethiopia population. I am talking about Hon ‪Dr Borbor Bule Dire. Bule is a Borana-Oromo historian and man of knowledge born in the remote area of southern ‪Ethiopia under administration of ‪#‎Oromiya regional state in ‪#‎Borana zone. His father Bule Dire was cattle herder and he was trained first as shepherd of calf like any child in borana and latter sent to Fora (a cattle temporary camps) to look over the cattle and past the rest
of his life as a pastoralist without even receiving a primary education. My first encounter with Bule was in 2015 with one of my colleagues from ‪‎BBC media action at his home town ‘’dubuluki’’ small village in Borana zone. We had breakfast at ‪‎yabello motel and took a modern asphaltic road to visit him. Our new ‪‎land rover took us on the direction of south toward ‪#‎moyalle(a border town between Ethiopia and Kenya line . after an hour drive we arrived at dubluk and greeted by such a big man with big
personality. I was so impressed to had my interview with such a huge Historians who mentor
some big researchers like ‪#Asmerom Legese of ‪#Harvard .‎professor
Asmerom legesse is an Eritrea- American Research and anthropologist,
Ph.D. Harvard, Emeritus Professor, known for his work on Oromo ‪#‎Gadaa System and ...he chose Borana - for his doctorate ‪#‎thesis for their richness in culture, identity, and history. above all what was attract legese toward borana was the reality that Oromo Gada system is un denied root of World democracy-which election are always free, fair and periodical within a fixed term of each #8 years. no fraud, no threatens, no ruled for 25 years, just, elected by the people, from the people and to the people . During his 8 years stay in Borana to conduct his mind blowing Research on ''Gada'' under the title
of ''‪‎Three approach to the study of African society ''which is converted latter into infamous Book''‘’Oromo Democracy: An Indigenous African Political System. He meet Bule in ‪‎Addis Ababa and travelled to Borana land. Asmerom "says that he was luckily enough to escorted, trained and mentor by Dr Borbor Bule. ''

A brilliant mind. Wonderful friend and a man of knowledge'' this is the
statement that Professor Lagase used to describe his mentor Dr Bule. During my short but very hot talk with Bule. i tried to asked him a question on varies topics-from politics, history, tales to stories and current issues. i tried to challenge him about cause for ‪#‎climate change in Ethiopia which left 15 million people under food crisis as the issues was my topics of trip as well . He was absolutely being smart, intelligent and show us how much he was big asset to Ethiopia in general and Oromo people in particular. Moreover, what amazed me about this legend was all people there in borana recognized him and respect him and he respect them back. Finding such smart mind in such highly marginalized community was big surprise to me as well my fellow ‪‎journalist. But, I was so sad at the same times for one reason and that was scholars has treated in authoritarian regime. How sad that seeing such mega minds has live in remote huts with cattle and camel? Living with cattle could be his decided fate from creature but This this days in Ethiopia it comes common to see the university in Ethiopia has giving ‪‎Honourable
Dr Degree for such a mouth piece of government or General without any reasonable justification. But, now our young University of ''Bule Hora'' has did a big history which has never been tried before by big name like Addis,Ababa. jima or mekelle university by giving out a right title to aright man. ‪ BORBOR BULE DIRE has finally awarded Honourable Doctorate degree from university of Bule Hora with his follow Dr ‪#‎Aga Tentano Former Abba Gada(chief) of Guji Oromo. I have no words for his success realy. he had big smile, but also big heart. DR Bule is the man I celebrate as much as I respect.
