This marketing technique manipulates you every day.
Imagine a vending machine at your school, university, or workplace. Let's say it sells 100 cans of soda a day.
And if you put a Pepsi vending machine next to that Coke machine, you will assume that it sells 50/50 or 60/40 cans a day. But you would be sorely mistaken!
Most likely, these two machines will sell 200 cans per day. But how does that work?
Let me explain. When there is one machine, you ask yourself the question: am I going to drink Coca-Cola or not?
But when there are two machines, you ask yourself, do I want a Coke or a Pepsi?
