Pieter Vandervyver

My academic background is in Electronic Engineering and I have obtained a Bachelors and an Honors degree in this field, both from the University of Pretoria. I specialised in Bio Engineering, which lead me to the fascinating field of Computational Neuroscience. I have been working as a researcher in this field and in particular uncovering the encoding of sound and speech in the auditory nerve of the brain. The purpose of my work is to improve the encoding mechanisms used in cochlear implants.

As for my IT career, I have focused on Object Orientation, including OO analysis, design, architecture and implementation using C++, Objective C and Java including JEE. In this field, I have been consulting as an IT architect since the late 1990s.

As Enterprise Architect, I have used most JEE containers, Enterprise Service Buses and Message Brokers commercial and open source. I have extensive knowledge of all major operating systems, though Ive always had a preference for Linux.
