Hi All I have been a cinematographer and in the grips hire business for nearly 30 years. I worked for some really big companies full time and for many years at each one. 3 years ago I went solo or freelancer. I have never looked back. I am now only shooting live events. Fashion parades and catwalks
stage shows and beauty contests, bands performing in concert
seminars, behind the scenes.
When I worked full time for others. I was paid a fixed wage so they worked me often 12 hours a day and I shot a lot of corporate and commercial work. But because of the pressure
and the want it now mentality. It was so stressful. I was made to edit till 3am sometimes to be delivered next morning. The company I worked for often made me work for their associates and business traders. Because I was on a fixed wage and they looked good. From time to time I'd shoot a fashion parade and capture the behind the scenes of everyone getting ready The hustle and bustle Now that's all I do any event.
